Bigley, Werner, DiMino Earn Wins After a Rainy Weekend
Another weekend brought major oil-down delays on Friday night and rain throughout Saturday—but we march on here at Numidia Dragway!
Saturday turned into a total washout, but we still had plenty of fun in the Rec Center despite the all-day rain. “Lil Petey” DiMino picked up a cool $600 check after defeating Paul Northrop in the Practice Tree Race final. Way to go, Petey!
As if Mother Nature was making up for Saturday, Sunday brought sunshine and temperatures in the 70s, allowing us to complete the entire race in comfort.
Our first winner of the day was Aaron Haight in Junior Dragster. Dave Mikolosko followed with the Sportsman victory, driving his Javelin into the winner’s circle after defeating Mary Ellen Watkins in her classic ’56 Chevy wagon.
Another wagon made a final-round appearance in Pro, this time with Paul Werner wheeling his 1980 Malibu wagon to a win over Charles Augustine. Werner cut a solid .014 reaction time in the final, although it ultimately did not matter after Augustine turned on the red light.
The Super Pro final featured a classic door car-versus-dragster matchup. Ray Thurston pulled into the left lane in his ’68 Barracuda to take on Kyle Bigley in his dragster. Bigley gained an .011 advantage at the starting line and turned on the win light while running one over his dial-in.
